Boys Swimming

History
Boys' Swimming was introduced at Crookston High School in 1989-90 as a Winter Sport. The final year that Boys' Swimming was offered was 2002 as only 5 boys participated. In 2004, the sport was offered as a Co-op Program with the Grand Forks Schools.

Coaches
The sport had only two coaches in its 13 year existence, Ken Stromberg from 1990 to 2001 and Tim Springer in 2002.

State Participants
During the Crookston High School sponsorship, three boys made it to State Competition.
1993 - Brian Miller, a diver, went to state after a 5th Place finish in the Region.
1988 - Kurt Rylander was the only boy to earn a medal at State with a 6th Place finish in the 200m freestyle. He also finished 8th in the 500m freestyle.
2002 - Brian Dale had a 3rd Place finish at Sections and advanced to State in the 100m butterfly.

Grand Forks KightRiders Co-op (Central, Red River, EGF and Crookston)

2003-2004: Ethan Nimens (7th Grade) and Ty Nimens (8th Grade). Both advanced to the North Dakota Swimming and Diving State Meet where Ty placed 3rd in the 200m individual medley and 4th in the 100m breaststroke. He was named to the Eastern Dakota Conference All-Conference Team.
2004-2005: Ethan Nimens (8th Grade) and Ty Nimens (9th Grade). Both advanced to the North Dakota Swimming and Diving State Meet where Ty placed 3rd in the 200m individual medley and 4th in the 100m breaststroke, 2nd in the 400m freestyle relay and 3rd in the 200m freestyle relay. Ethan placed 8th in the 500m freestyle.
2005-2006: Ethan Nimens (9th Grade) and Ty Nimens (10th Grade). Both advanced to the North Dakota Swimming and Diving State Meet where Ty placed 3rd in the 200m individual medley and and the 100 freestyle. He was also a member the 1st place pool-record-setting 400 freestyle relay and the 2nd place 200 medley relay. He was named All-State first team and the KnightRiders' Most Valuable Swimmer of 2005-2006. Ethan finished 1st in the state consolation bracket in the 500m freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
2006-2007: No information
2007-2008: Ty Nimens (12 Grade) voted captain, EDC senior athlete and state senior athlete. Ethan Nimens (11th Grade) State champion. Isaac Loegering and Luke Loegering (9th Grade).
2008-2009: Ethan Nimens (12th Grade) Captain, team MVP, EDC Conference Team and First Team All-State. Isaac Loegering EDC Conference Team and First Team All-State. Luke Loegering and Jacob Lutz were also team members.
2009-2010: Luke Loegering (11th Grade). Isaac Loegering was state champion in 50 freestyle. Jacob Lutz.
2010-2011: No information.
