Misc Records/Notes

The following is a link to "Minnesota High School Basketball Records".  It also provides links to the "National High School Sports Record Book" and the Minnesota State High School League.

The "Team:  Game" record for Best FG% of 69.2% did not make the Minnesota State Record list because it was set with only 26 attempts.  The State calls for a minimum of 30 attempts.  However, the previous record of 68.57% is listed as #8 on the State list.

Also, the 2006 team is in the #14 position on the Minnesota list for 3 Point Field Goals Made with 202. The current Crookston High School Record is 244 set by the 2008 team and is listed in the Minnesota Records at #5.

The Pirates are also listed in the State Tournament Record Book:
Most Points Scored by a Losing Team:  74  Crookston vs. Jordan, 2008
Three-Point Field Goals Made:  10  Crookston vs. Hayfield, 2008
Three-Point Field Goals Attempted:  22  Crookston, 2008

Some notes:
The first successful 3 Point Field Goal by a Pirate, was made by Sue Sims on November 24, 1987 in a 59-36 win over Red Lake Falls.  It was the first game played with the new 3 point line in a Crookston gym.

Jamie Reese scored the first 4 points at the new Crookston High School Gym on December 2, 1997. The Pirates defeated Fertile/Beltrami 57-35 in the inaugural game.

Even though Mary Biermaier played her high school basketball at Mount St. Benedict, her scoring record was considered the City Record for many years.  Mary scored 1,353 points in her career.  Her points are still listed with Minnesota's 1,000 Point Scorers and we would like to list them here as part of Crookston Girls' Basketball History.
