Art 8 CAPE
Eighth grade 2D artists have completed Unit 1: Self-Portrait Value Study with inspiration from artists Frank Big Bear, Chuck Close and Frida Kahlo. They moved on to Unit 2: Discovering Color Theory with a look at historical connections to artist Wassily Kandinsky, Josef Albers, and Henri Matisse. Students layered color with oil pastel, mixed paint to match paint chips finishing with Oil pastel nature drawings.

Students are currently involved in Unit 3: Architectural Printmaking - a synopsis of famous architects; Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Antoni Gaudi and Frank Lloyd Wright.  Students viewed and discussed famous architectural structures like the Taj Mahal, Eiffel Tower, Great Wall of China, and Burj Khalifa. Students are creating abstract paintings while experimenting with watercolor, they will add 2 point perspective drawn buildings in a printmaking process to complete their works of art.
