Ind Study/Credit Recovery

To be eligible for full time participation in the Crookston ISD 593 Area Learning Center, a student must be over the age of 16 and meet at least one of the following Graduation Incentives criteria:

  • Performs substantially below performance level on a local achievement test
  • Is at least one year behind in satisfactorily completing course work
  • Is pregnant or a parent
  • Has been assessed as chemically dependent
  • Has been physically or sexually abused
  • Has experienced mental health problems
  • Has been homeless sometime in the last six months
  • Has limited English as a second language
  • Has been referred by a school district for enrollment in an eligible nontraditional program
  • Has been chronically truant or has withdrawn from school
  • Has been excluded or expelled

For our credit recovery program a student must have attempted the class in a class setting at their home district before attempting to recover the course with us. It is the home districts responsibility to exhaust all options for the student before referring to the ALC. A student must be referred for credit recovery through their school counselor. A referral form and current transcript must be sent to the ALC, and if the student is under the age of 18 a parent must be present to enroll the student.
