Foundation Scholarships

Local scholarships are often less competitive than national scholarships but similar in amount. While a student's first instinct may be to aim for high-dollar, national college scholarships, experts say this may turn him or her into a "little fish in a big pond." Instead, local scholarships may often offer less competition and a greater chance for success.

  • Focus of work and entries: PHOTOJOURNALISM. Scholarships will be awarded to those students whose work “tells a story”. Please keep in mind, for the still photography submissions, that we are NOT looking for “art” photography. One suggestion, for subject matter, is the current crisis our world is facing: COVID-19. All of our lives have been changed by the Coronavirus. Much like 9/11 changed the lives of your parents, this event will change your world forever. You can show, through images or video, how COVID-19 has affected life in your school, your home, and your community.

  • High school students applying for these scholarships must have completed one year at an accredited high school (student must therefore be a sophomore or older) and should have taken at least one photography or related art class.

  • The applicant must be a United States citizen.

  • The applicant’s school must be in the United States. (U.S. citizens attending U.S. government schools outside of the US may apply.)
