#PIRATEPRIDE

  • We are one school family, surrounded by the generous support of the entire Crookston community. Pirate Pride runs deep!

  • We offer a strong culture of acceptance and inclusion throughout our school community.

  • We offer 1:1 technology for students in grades 5-12 (Chromebooks 5-12 & iPads in Grades 5-6). Grades PreK-4 have computer carts (iPads) in their classrooms.

  • We have strong partnerships with our surrounding community, offering mental health and social services to students while still within our school buildings.

  • We support a wide range of co-curricular activities to appeal to the varied interests and skills of our students.

  • We recently completed or are in the process of completing building upgrades that will benefit students for years to come. This includes a multi-use, state-of-the-art outdoor complex and a new preschool wing at Highland Elementary School.

RENEWED FOCUS ON SAFETY

Crookston Public Schools recently deployed a 7-step plan to improve safety at all schools:

  1. Creating a district Student Safety Committee made up of school staff, students, parents, law enforcement and collaborative partners

  2. Conducting research-based behavior intervention training for staff

  3. Delivering conflict resolution education to staff

  4. Adding a Behavior Interventionist at each Crookston Middle School and Washington Elementary School

  5. Developing a plan to improve communication with staff and families

  6. Collaborating with Polk County Health and other local agencies to increase awareness, intervention, and education on the harmful effects of vaping

  7. Adding safe, private, and secure individual gender-neutral restroom stalls for any student choosing to use them.

DISCOVER THE CROOKSTON COMMUNITY

10.png

Located in northwestern Minnesota, the Crookston Public Schools covers 436 square miles and serves the communities of Crookston, Euclid, and Gentilly.

Our agriculturally rich community is housed on the banks of the Red River and is home to a historic downtown space, filled with deep and lasting traditions. The quality of life and opportunities for outdoor recreation in Crookston are second to none.

Our small community serves as home to the University of Minnesota’s Crookston campus. It’s also not far from the Greater Grand Forks area. Both provide our residents with the feel of a larger metropolitan area and ample opportunities for entertainment and varied cultural experiences without having to travel far from home.

SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE

Thank you for your interest in the Crookston School District. On behalf of the school board, administration, faculty, and students of our district, I want to welcome you to our district and encourage you to learn more about the many incredible programs and services we offer for our students.

Our mission is to achieve educational excellence through providing a safe, respectful and nurturing learning environment for all students, which includes an individualized, relevant, and rigorous learning experience that meets each student's needs. We believe in preparing future-ready students who can succeed in an ever-changing world.

When you send your child to one of our schools to start their Pirate educational journey, we hope that you will join us in setting high expectations. These include high expectations for challenging and engaging instruction, for strong and regular communication from teachers and the school, for performance from the entire staff, including me, and most importantly high expectations for what your child can achieve in our great school district.

As superintendent, it is my responsibility to provide leadership to bring our district’s vision, mission and strategic plan to life.
